JWI and Westrup join forces in the UK

JWI and Westrup A/S are joining forces to offer customers in the UK more than 90 years design and manufacture expertise in the seed and grain machinery industry.

JWI has won the UK contract to distribute Westrup equipment. Known worldwide as one of the leading manufacturers in seed and grain cleaning and processing lines, Westrup offers more sizes and types of seed machines than any competitor.

For JWI the partnership will further boost the range of machinery and services they can offer customers. The company already owns Allmet Grain Driers and exclusively distribute Tornum AB products in the UK as well as supplying Skandia handling equipment and Kongskilde products.

JWI Director James White said: “We are thrilled to be expanding with the well-known and well-established brand of Westrup. Their high quality, reliable machinery complements the trusted ranges we already offer and provides more choice and additional bespoke solutions for our customers. Also, because the machinery can handle any type of crop including grass seed, malting barley, spices, vegetable seeds and cotton we can now also reach out to new industries such as laboratories and recycling plants.”

Both companies share similar beginnings forged from family enterprises – one in England and the other in Denmark. JWI was founded by father and son, John and James White and is now run by James and his brother Charles. Westrup was founded by brothers, Knud and Troels Westrup. Both have strong, solid foundations offering user friendly, robust and efficient service solutions based on customer satisfaction, innovation and partnership working.

Fellow Director at JWI, Charles White added: “Westrup can be assured that their products are in safe hands with JW Installations. We have an extensive customer base and a sound infrastructure with experienced and diligent sales, installation and after care work force, allowing us to deliver a first rate service. This partnership really does optimize products and services for customers.”

Torben Jepsen of Westrup said: “At Westrup we are absolutely confident that joining forces with JWI will be beneficial for both agricultural and agro-industrial businesses in the UK. As an end-user you will always look into what your supplier can offer, not only in the sales process, but also when it comes to planning, installation and after sales. JW Installations has exactly the infrastructure that ensures an excellent sales and after sales service to customers.

“Furthermore, JWI closely co-operates with well-established contractors and installation companies that can offer high-quality Westrup grain cleaning and seed processing solutions to the end-users in the UK.”

Allmet Driving Forward

JW Installations have recently expanded their team with several new appointments to keep their business driving forward.

Matt Woodhead, who will be a familiar name to many JW Installations customers, has recently been appointed as Northern sales manager covering from Lincolnshire up to the Scottish borders. Having worked for JW Installations for the past 11 years, Matt comes with a wealth of experience and understanding of grain driers so can ensure that new customers have a drier system which best suits their specific requirement.

Completing the team are the draughtsmen, Graeme Tutin and Ben Fawcett. Graeme has over 20 years’ experience in engineering and construction and combined with his previous role as project engineer in sheet metal works, he utilises the latest CAD software to design bespoke drying systems. Ably assisted by Ben, whose previous design engineering background for drilling equipment for off-shore oil platforms, means we can now produce designs and drawings utilising the latest design programmes.

Company Director Charles White says that these exciting changes have ensured that the business can advance and evolve. “These new appointments mean that we now have a sales team covering the whole of the country to drive new business and importantly we can back this new business with an experienced design team and offer a first class after care service”.

Fellow Director James White explains that there is no better recommendation than a satisfied customer. “We are proud that many of our new business enquiries come as a result of customer recommendations and our new appointments mean that we can offer our new and existing customers the level of technical expertise they have come to expect utilising the latest modern technology”

Established in 1953, Allmet, a subsidiary of JW Installations pioneered and patented one of the first mixed flow continuous grain driers and over the years has evolved into one of the leaders in the grain drying industry.

Intelligent Dryer Control System to be launched at Cereals

JW Installations UK Ltd will be taking their Allmet exhibition trailer to Cereals 2015 (10-11th June) where they will be launching the new Intelligent Dryer Control (IDC) System.

The IDC will help farming enterprises to reduce drying costs and increase drying capacity. This latest technical advance brought to the UK market is the result of Allmet's alliance with Tornum AB, a strategic business partnership formed at the end of last year that has seen the two companies share expertise and resources to focus on product research and development.

The IDC, is long-awaited in the grain market as Charles White explained: "Drying grain precisely is a complex process that you want to get right to maximise the best possible price. When you use manual methods you run the risk of not reaching the desired moisture content levels, or over drying. The IDC takes the guess work out of this by maintaining the average outgoing moisture content of the grain, despite large variations in incoming moisture content.

"Cereals seemed like the ideal platform to launch the IDC in the UK, we hope people will come and find out more by visiting us in the Post Harvest Technology Section, stand 1015, just off of Avenue 9."

To illustrate the benefits of the IDC - overstepping the mark by drying to 13 percent instead of 14 can typically add up to 20 percent to your energy bill, give you an additional 1% loss in weight and reduce your dryer's capacity by up to 16 percent.

James White added: "The IDC optimizes the drying process by using intelligent software that adapts to conditions. There's no need for manual adjustments you have total control over the drying process and can change the grain type and drying recipe where ever you are, at the touch a button either from a PC or a tablet."

Available in four different standard kits, the system consists of moisture sensors and a control unit with a user friendly interface. The first sensor is positioned in one of the upper drying sections and measures incoming moisture. The second is placed in the cooling zone, close to the dryer outlet. Using information about incoming and outgoing moisture content, the control unit sets the speed of the dryer discharge to obtain the desired moisture content out of the dryer - regardless of outside climatic conditions.
